Purchased my Cub Cadet XT1 ST54 at Big-R farm store in Warsaw Indiana, salesmen's name was Matt he was very helpful and knowledgeable on the Cub mowers he had. My mower was setup proper from the word go, deck was level, front end greased and gas was installed in tank.
Mower starts and runs flawlessly, so far I have only 3.1 hrs on it and it has been fantastic. For what reason I do not know mine came with 23 x 10.5 rear tires instead of the 22 x 9.5 tires and I like them.
After mowing with it the first time I did not like the fact that the springs on the seat made a screeching noise, so I went to lowe's and purchased two 1 1/2 inch rubber end caps from the pluming area to fit over the springs, use a little grease inside the rubber cup and on the top of the springs to install them. No more noise and they protect the paint on the seat pan.
Kohler motor runs great and the oil is so clear you could read the news paper thru it.
After mowing 3 times the deck had very little grass inside, but I had to try out the deck wash and it worked fine. My old Craftman deck had to be cleaned every time after a mow and always collected grass on top of the deck and inside the pulley area, but not this deck.
I just replaced a Sears Craftsman 24HP 54" cut that generally ran good but kept on blowing deck belts. This mower is has the Kohler engine which is definitely smoother than a Briggs of the same HP. The transmission is smooth and has more power in reverse. Never encountered any belt issues (yet). The fabricated deck is definitely heavier made. The turning radius is very sharp. Only complaint is the rear rims are small diameter and the tires not as wide as I would like.
Excellent machine. Smooth start up, smooth hydraulics, easy steering. It cuts with plenty of power, the cut is even and the discharge scatters so there isn't any clumps of grass. The seat is comfortable.
My husband absolutely loves this tractor. This is his second Club Cadet and he swears by it. He will never buy another brand.
Moses great and as fast as I want it to, wish it had come with a striping kit
